A man in western Canada has been hospitalised with symptoms of hemorrhagic fever resembling the Ebola virus after returning from a visit to Liberia, according to a BBC report.

Sixty people have reportedly died from an Ebola outbreak in the southern forests of the western African nation of Guinea, and six suspected cases have been found in neighbouring Liberia, according to an AFP report.

The Canadian man had recently returned from Liberia to Canada. He fell ill soon after his arrival, according to a CBC report.

He is being examined for a suspected case of viral hemorrhagic fever and is currently in isolation in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Saskatoon, the largest city in Saskatchewan province.

According to the BBC, hospital officials said the man's diagnosis had yet to be determined.

Viral hemorrhagic fevers is in fact a generic term that refers to a number of diseases found in Africa, including Ebola hemorrhagic fever, Lassa fever, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever and yellow fever.
