A woman in Dallas is dead after an argument with her elderly boyfriend got out of hand. 43-year-old Felicia Jones was stabbed by her partner, 71-year-old Robert Coleman following a dispute over his electric wheelchair.

Coleman reportedly admitted to stabbing the victim but he says he killed her in self defense. According to Coleman, he let Jones borrow his Hoveround for a trip to the store, but she took far too long. Police later learned she had gone out drinking and didn’t answer her phone for that duration.

When she finally returned home drunk, Coleman said he had called Jones’ mother to pick her up. The argument escalated at that point. Jones reportedly grabbed a cane and struck Coleman. Investigators did indeed confirm he had marks on his body consistent with being hit with a cane.

At some point during the fight, Coleman was able to grab a knife and fatally stabbed Jones one time. In 2012, Jones was arrested for violating a protective order which is related to a previous fight with Coleman.

Coleman has not been charged with any crime, but the case will be referred to a grand jury in Dallas County.
