A recruiter for the Army National Guard shot three of his superiors on Thursday at an armoury outside a U.S. Navy facility in Millington, Tennessee.
According to reports, the shooting occurred inside a National Guard armory near the Naval Support Activity Mid-South facility.
The suspect was having a meeting with his superiors who were there to fire him for disciplinary reasons.
In the midst of the meeting he went to his car to retrieve his computer and a waist pack.
He handed the computer over then pulled out his gun and opened fire.
According to KLTV, all the guardsmen shouted "gun" and tried to stop him, but he still managed to shoot seven to ten shots.
According to reports, he hit the major in the thigh, the sergeant in the foot and a third guardsman in the arm. He was then apprehended by other National Guard employees before taken into custody by police.
According to KLTV, after being transported to jail he was questioned by the FBI.
The base was put under lockdown.
All the victims are now in non-critical conditions.
According to Reuters, "The armory is located across the street from the base, outside the secured area, and within the city limits of Millington, about 17 miles (27 km) north of Memphis.
"The Navy facility, which manages personnel records, was locked down as a precaution temporarily, but that was later lifted, the Navy said.
"The incident took place just over a month after a contract worker opened fire at the Washington Navy Yard on Sept. 16, killing 12 people before being shot dead by police."
