The department received a call at about 5:30 in the morning, as the bear had been witnessed blindly walking down the street with the container covering its features.
Bears have an extremely keen sense of smell and a big appetite. They are also very curious creatures.
Those traits contribute to their habit of searching for left behind scented items. They’ll also go for any stray cans or bottles that have a few drops of liquid inside.
According to police, this particular bear couldn’t get the jar off on its own. Despite the inconvenience, the bear continued sauntering along and continuously walked into objects. One time the bear walked into a squad car.
Officers contacted the Ministry of Natural Resources for assistance. The bear was tranquilized and the jar was cut open so it could be removed.
