A Vancouver, Washington woman, unwittingly live-tweeted details of the car crash that killed her husband on Interstate 205 on Wednesday afternoon.

Caran Johnson, a mother of two, was in the habit of listening to police scanners. She started doing it when she was in college, then more recently, she posted what she heard on her Twitter account, @ScanCouver.

That Wednesday, she retweeted this message from department of transportation: 'A car driving northbound just after Padden Parkway drove over the grass meridian, rolled, then crashed head-on into truck in the southbound lane.'

She stayed on top of the accident as more and more information was released.

Johnson then started to worry about her 47-year-old husband, Craig.

'I'm trying not to panic, but my husband left work early and he drives 205 to get home. he's not answering his phone.' - @ScanCouver

She called his place of work and was informed that he had been feeling faint and already left. She called 9-1-1 and when she gave them her husband's car's license plate number, they told her they'd return her call. This only made her more anxious.

'i just called 911 and they transferred me after I gave them his license number and told me that they will call me back. wtf?'

She eventually got the call that her husband was indeed the person killed in the crash. The woman driving the other vehicle, Carol Shelley, 54, was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance.

Johnson tweeted the news to her followers, 'it's him. he died'.

Friends and followers responded with messages of support and sympathy. Johnson's Twitter page is now closed to the public.
