Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of The Witch and the Hundred Knight for PlayStation 3 developed by Nippon-Ichi Software and published by Nippon-Ichi Software America.
The Witch and the Hundred Knight (not Knights, mind, or NiGHTS, that's something else entirely) represents Nippon-Ichi breaking new ground and simultaneously not breaking new gronud. The things you're expecting return in force: A Tenpei Sato soundtrack that sounds like a distillation of every Disgaea game you've ever heard, iconic demon girls and strange creatures abound, and a twisted sense of humor that... well, gets even more twisted the further down the rabbit hole you go. But to go along with those, you've got a hard break from the Tacitcal-RPG roots that the developer is known for, instead opting for a real-time action RPG that tests players in new and interesting ways... including how much of the eponymous Witch they're able to stomach before they wish for her demise.
