A Palestinian judge was shot to death by Israeli soldiers at the Allenby bridge crossing point between Jordan and the occupied West Bank on Monday morning, March 10.
The 38 year-old judge Raed Ala'eddin Nafe' Zeiter arrived at the Allenby Bridge crossing point from Jordan in a bus at around 9:20 a.m., Middle East Monitor reported. He was heading to Nablus to visit his family.

According to Israel, when the man got off the bus he shout "Allahu Akbar" (God is the Great) and then tried to seize one of the soldiers' rifle, causing the soldiers to react and open fire.

According to Palestinian news agency WAFA, eyewitnesses and travellers denied claims that Zeiter tried to seize the soldier's weapon, saying there was some distance between the two.

Israeli soldiers shot him in the chest and he died immediately.

Israel closed the crossing after the incident and declared the bridge a closed military zone, AlJazeera reported.

Last month, Amnesty International published a report that highlighted the excessive force and violence used by Israeli forces in the West Bank, Reuters reported.

Israel dismissed the report saying the increase of violence comes from the Palestinian territories.
