You wouldn't think the kings of the jungle would be in the middle of a financial crisis.
But they are. Ukrainian banks have blocked this Crimean safari park's accounts following Russia's annexation.
According to the park's director, fifty lions could face starvation as a result:
(SOUNDBITE) (Russian) OLEG ZUBKOV, SAFARI PARK TAIGAN, SAYING:
"There is only enough meat in the park for a few days. We will have to come up with something. It is impossible to explain to tigers that they have become victims of somebody's political ambitions or a revolution. They need meat, 7-10 kilos. In total, the park consumes about 500 kilos of meat per day."
In addition to the African lions, the park is home to giraffes, Himalyan bears, kangaroos, monkeys among others.
All victims of a political tug-of-war.
