If you are health concious and looking for recipe thats high on nutrition and low on calories, Oats Idli can be the perfect recipe for you. Chef Ruchi Bharanai make a very simple and easy to make quick homemade south indian recipe idli but with a main ingredients as Oats.

Ingredients:
1 cup oats
1 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seed
1 tsp white lentil ( urad dal)
1 tbsp cashew nuts
1/4 tsp asafoetida
Few curry leaves
1 onion ( finely chopped )
1/2 cup semolina
Salt
1 cup curd
1 cup water
Carrots (grated)
Green Peas
1 tsp lemon
1 tsp eno fruit salt

Method:
- Roast oats in a pan for 2 -3 mins by without making it brown
- Remove them in a plate and let it cool
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, white lentils, cashew nuts, asafoetida, curry leaves and sute till its golden brown in color
- Add onions and saute onions for 1 - 2 mins
- Add semolina and roast it for around 2 mins
- Pour the contents in a bowl and let it cool
- Coarsely grind the oats and it to the roasted semolina
- Add salt, curd, water to it and mix it well
- Add grated carrots, green peas, mix it well and let it rest for 5 mins.
- Meanwhile grease the idli mold and add water to pressure cooker and let it boil
- Add lemon juice, eno fruit salt to the batter and mix well.
- Pour the batter in a mold and keep it for steaming in a pressure cooker with its lid on
- Steam the idli for 15 mins on high flame without the valve.
- Take out the idli stand and let it cool for 5 mins
- Scoop out the idli from the mold and serve hot the idlis with coconut chutney
