Two robbers made off with roughly RM180,000 in jewelry from a Malaysian goldsmith store in Rantau, Rembau on Tuesday (December 24).
Police suspect the two parang-wielding men broke into the shop from the roof at night and waited with the store owner to arrive. When the 66-year-old owner arrived at 8:15 a.m. the next day to start business, they attacked him as he was taking jewelry out of a safe for display.
The owner was tied up with a piece of rope while the robbers took three trays worth of of jewelry valued at RM180,000. They also took the owner's phone and RM5,000 in cash.
According to police, the robbers were then seeing fleeing the scene in a Mitsubishi Pajero that was waiting for them behind the shop.
The store owner was not hurt. Officials are still investigating the incident and are seeing the public's help in tracking down the two men.
