ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
The Progress 55, an unmanned spacecraft carrying supplies for the International Space Station (ISS) launched on Wednesday (April 9) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
The launch occurred at 11:25 EDT (1526 GMT) and mission control expects the Progress 55 will rendezvous with the ISS in approximately six hours.
The Progress 55, also referred to as the Progress M-23M launched atop a Russian-buiilt Soyuz rocket carrying food and supplies for the crew aboard the space station.
On Monday, Progress 54 ended its docking mission with the (ISS). It will orbit the Earth for 11 days conducting engineering tests before deorbiting over the Pacific next week.
