Steven Utash is still in a coma at the hospital, but generous donors are contributing to cover his medical bills and the men responsible are being brought to justice.

He was badly beaten by a mob of black men after he accidently hit a 10-year-old boy who stepped in front of his truck last week.

Utash did not have medical insurance and a GoFundMe.com campaign was set up with the hope of raising $50,000 to cover his medical bills. More than 3,000 people contributed funds totalling over $128,000 in just four days.

Church leaders called upon their congregations to help, "to prove that we equally deplore justice and unbridled brutality no matter what color the victim is or of the one committing it," as Rev. Horace Sheffield III was quoted.

The Detroit community group, Detroit 300, canvassed neighborhoods with flyers encouraging community members to assist in the police investigation.

Two teens were arrested in connection to the mob and the elder, Bruce Wimbush, Jr., 17, was charged with assault and intent to commit murder. Police also arrested a 30-year-old man Sunday night and a 24-year-old man the following afternoon.

Utash's hospital bills are racking up to about $20,000 per day and a fundraising event has been scheduled for this Saturday. Individuals who wish to contribute funds for Utash's medical bills can do so here: www.gofundme.com/81r9sk
