Extreme sports athlete Ernesto Gainza completed a world record skydive while landing successfully with a 35 square foot parachute – officially the smallest in the world achieved by any skydiver at the Palm Drop Zone in the UAE on April 5. Currently expert skydivers use parachutes that range in size from 80-200 square feet and over the last decade the development of high-performance canopy sizes have averaged between 70-90 square feet.
