The plight of Muslims in Myanmar seems to be far from over as violence continues against one of the world's most persecuted minority groups.
Buddhist extremists have attacked Rohingya Muslims in Hlegu-- a town on the outskirts of Myanmar's main city of Yangon. The violent mob damaged a building, while trying to destroy Muslim houses and shops. The attack triggered clashes between Buddhists and Muslims-- leaving a number of people injured. Over the past two years, hundreds of Rohingyas have been killed and hundreds of thousands forced to flee after being targeted by Buddhist mobs. A few days ago, a UN-backed census was launched in Myanmar. But the government says it will not recognize Rohingya Muslims as Myanmarese citizens.
