Newly surfaced video, testimonials help unravel Teleka Patrick mystery

2014-04-05 1

A woman just starting out a promising career goes missing seemingly without a trace. But unlisted videos from YouTube that surfaced yesterday, along with accounts of her past from her ex-husband, a host of family and friends, and a famous gospel singer are painting a picture of a woman who may have been crying out for help in her own way.

Her ex husband, Ismael Calderon says their five year marriage was rocky at times due to what can be implied as paranoia.

"She started to have delusions, paranoia; she started to hear voices," he said. "Maybe the voices that she heard wasn't God. Maybe the voices she heard pointed to a serious condition."
Patrick, who was very much into the church, found comfort in talking to others of the same faith, but things got testy around the spring of 2013 when she allegedly started stalking professional gospel singer and minister Marvin Sapp. He was so concerned about his family's safety that he put a restraining order on her.

Around the summer of 2013, she left Southern California and moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan. On the surface it seemed like it was because she landed a residency at Western Michigan University. However, Sapp's church is also located in the area.

Things started off normally for Patrick in her new role, according to co-workers at Borgess Medical Center, but just yesterday, videos that show her in what appears to be a hotel suite surfaced.

In them we see Patrick serenading and making breakfast for an unknown friend, perhaps a lover. Her friends and family have no recollection of her dating anyone at this time.

Then on the night of December 5, Patrick was seen getting off a hotel shuttle bus and walking into the Kalamazoo Radisson lobby. She tried to book a room for the night with cash, but hotel staff insisted only credit cards could be used.

She stormed back out into the parking lot and got into another shuttle bus that took her to her car in the parking lot.

It's not know exactly why, but she ended up driving on I-94 West for about 120 miles. Her car was found on the side of the highway, abandoned just outside of Chicago.

No one knows what may have made her drive all that way and then abandon her car. There was no sign of a struggle, but a witness said she was driving "erratically" 30 minutes before the car was found.

Was Patrick suffering from a mental delusion? Was foul play involved? Or did she just want to go off the grid?

In any case, police, family, and friends are asking for any leads to help find Dr Teleka Patrick.
