Details are emerging from a confidential report by the US Senate Intelligence Committee investigating Bush-era torture programmes. The report has concluded the CIA misled the US government about the scale of its abuse of prisoners and overstated intelligence gleaned from sessions on senior Al-Qaeda figures.
