UAV remote sensing is used to acquire information about material objects or a specified area from the air without any physical contact with the object or area under investigation. Remote sensing data can also be collected from devices (satellites) in space. UAV remote sensing is primarily used in the aerospace industry where self-piloted aircraft carrying sensors, cameras, and various types of communication equipment are used. Revenue contribution in this market is nearly evenly split between spending on equipment and spending on R&D. UAV remote sensing is used for surveillance, intelligence, and weapon delivery, as well as for detection of natural disasters and storm tracking.
