Kenya: Six dead in Nairobi explosions

At least six people have been killed in three almost simultaneous explosions in part of the Kenyan capital Nairobi that is popular with Somalis.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

But in the past attacks in the neighbourhood known as ‘Little Mogadishu’ have been blamed on Somalia’s al-Shabaab Islamist group.

A small clinic and restaurants were targeted as people headed home for the evening, some stopping for a snack.

Homemade bombs or grenades are thought to have been used.

More than two dozen people were hurt, at least nine of them were critically injured.

Last September al-Shabaab said it was behind the deadly raid on a shopping mall in Nairobi as punishment for Kenya’s military involvement in Somalia. At least 67 people died.
