Four students die in car, lorry crash in Malaysia

Four students died early Thursday in a car and lorry accident in Malaysia, near Gua Tempurung.

The students were traveling in a Paradua Viva along the Ipoh-Kuala Lumpur trunk road, according to a report in the Star Online. At around 5 a.m., near kilometer 25.5, the driver, Thomas Loh, tried to overtake another vehicle in front of him. At the same time a lorry transporting tar was coming from the opposite direction.

The students' car didn't manage to overtake the other vehicle and crashed head-on into the lorry. All four students died in the accident.

The three other victims were identified as Koh Suet Mun and Wong Pei Pei, both 20, and Ling Yok Sue. Loh and Ling's ages have yet to be determined.

According to the Star Online, the lorry driver has been detained to facilitate investigations.
