The body of an Indiana woman, Shannon Kleeman, was found lying 'mutilated' in the basement of her Indianapolis home on late last week.

The 21-year-old's lifeless body was found in her home on the 600 block of North Linwood Avenue, Indianapolis. Kleeman reportedly lived with her mother and her sister.

The body was discovered when her neighbour, Treva Bryant, and her husband heard some loud banging noises, which she later believed were gunshots, on Friday morning at around 10 a.m..

Soon after, Bryant heard screaming and went outside to see what was happening. She found Kleeman's sister screaming outside the home, who asked her to go inside the house's basement.

When she did, Bryant came across a harrowing scene. She found Shannon Kleeman's bullet-riddled body lying 'mutilated' in the basement.

Officials say they are investigating her death as a homicide.
