A family in Fort Dodge, Iowa has encountered one traumatic event after another. Last week, two brothers, Corbin and Dylan Crawford were rescued from the freezing waters of the Des Moines River.

The children reportedly stepped on the ice to pick up a shoe, however the ice broke underneath their feet and left both boys struggling to keep their heads above water. Thanks to firefighters who took part in the rescue, both boys were uninjured.

Just days after their lives were saved, Corbin, Dylan, their mother and a local firefighter flew to New York City to share their story on The Today Show. While the Crawford family was away from home during the filming, someone broke into their home and stole personal items belonging to the kids.

The burglar cleaned them out. The boys’ legos and all their toys were gone. The kids are now staying with their father.

Police are currently investigating the crime they are calling ‘disturbingly disappointing, if not disgusting’.

Anyone with information is asked to immediately contact the Fort Dodge police department.
