A family in Solna, Sweden was stunned to find a rat measuring over 15 inches in length in their kitchen. To put it further into perspective, that huge length pertaining to the rat doesn’t include its tail.

Given that rats eat pretty much any and everything include pet food, human food, spilled oils, veggies, rice, cereals and garbage, it’s not too surprising the rodents can become massive if they have access to ample nourishment.

The Swedish family was tipped off something was wrong when they noticed their cat was too scared to go into the kitchen. The woman of the house, Signe Bengtsson stated ‘We thought it could be a little mouse, but after a while we figured it couldn't be because it was making too much noise.’

Her suspicions were confirmed several days later when she saw the monster rat munching leftovers under the sink. The lady called her husband, who was out of town, for help.

He promised to deal with it upon his return home. When he got there the rat was already domesticated, as it just sat under the kitchen table. It had also caused damages to the home.

The family called pet controllers, who used a very large trap to capture the beast. The rat reportedly got into the house by crawling into a ventilation pipe and chewing through cement and wood.
