STORY: U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama wrapped up her one-week trip in China on Wednesday (March 26) with a visit to a giant panda research base and lunch with her family in a Tibetan restaurant in southwestern city of Chengdu.
Obama visited Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding on Wednesday morning with her mother and two daughters. The Obama family watched pandas eat bamboo and asked questions about the giant panda's daily life.
After that, Obama and her family had lunch at a local Tibetan restaurant before departing for home.
Chinese officials and the newly appointed U.S. ambassador Max Baucus saw her off at the airport in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan province.
The Harvard-educated lawyer kicked off her trip in China last Thursday (March 20) at the invitation of the Chinese first lady Peng Liyuan.
