ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION

STORY: U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama visited the western China historic city of Xi'an on Monday (March 24).

Accompanied by her daughters, Sasha and Malia, Obama toured the famed Terracotta Warriors and attended a welcome ceremony at the City Wall. She joined folk dancers and skipped rope with children, to the delight of her hosts.

Earlier on Saturday, Mrs. Obama told an audience of college students in Beijing that open access to information - especially online - was a universal right.

But Obama stopped short of calling on China to offer its citizens greater freedoms. She is expected to steer clear of more complicated political issues during her China visit and to try to build goodwill through soft diplomacy.

Michelle Obama is set to leave China on Wednesday.
