French voters go to the polls for the first round of local elections on Sunday. Parisians look set to elect their first female mayor, as the two leading candidates are both women. The socialist Deputy Mayor is the front runner. A protegee of former President Nicolas Sarkozy, is the right-wing UMP candidate. The election is seen as the first major electoral test since Francois Hollande became President. The campaign has been dominated by housing, the economy and security.
