Police are currently investigating an alleged incident that went down at a Philadelphia Elementary School. Roughly a dozen students ingested what is suspected to be birth control pills.

The kids were reportedly seen with the tablets at Rudolph Blankenburg Elementary School. EMTs were dispatched to the facility at approximately 11 in the morning after a report came in that several students had consumed the tablets and were possibly ill.

A school district spokesperson said the children either swallowed or tasted the pills. The CDC, local police and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia were apparently contacted and all advised further medical attention was unwarranted.

The fact that none of the kids were taken to the hospital after an evaluation backs up that theory. One student is responsible for bringing the medication into school.

A staff member reportedly saw the group of children with a container of the pills, and authorities believe they thought the tablets were candy and tasted them. Parents of the students have been notified of the troubling ordeal.
