Gunman attack luxury Afghan hotel; police kill four attackers

Afghan security forces say they've killed four assailants following an attack by the Taliban on a luxury hotel in capital Kabul.

It's home to many United Nations staff and foreign delegations.

So far, no reports of deaths among staff or guests, in an attack where the suspects hid pistols in their socks....

This spokesman from the Afghan Interior Ministry explains.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) AFGHAN INTERIOR MINISTRY SPOKESMAN, SEDIQ SEDIQQI, SAYING:

"There were four attackers, four terrorists… according to information they were underage, and they came to ask security of the hotel, which is a very good security as we all know, and they wanted to get in and they have said to the guards that we would like to have dinner here, but they started later on the attack. They had small pistols. They carried those pistols. They were able to hide those pistols in their socks, but at 9:00 o'clock they started shooting on some of the personnel of the hotel.
