A Scottish botanist went missing while on a plant-hunting trip to a mountainous region in northern Vietnam last month.

41-year-old Jamie Taggart, from the village of Cove in Argyll and Bute, runs Linn Botanic Gardens in the village on the Rosneath peninsula. He reportedly arrived in a guesthouse in the town of Sapa on 30 October, before leaving on a motorbike taxi to explore the hills. His rucksack and passport were found at the accommodation on 2 November.

According to the BBC, his father Jim Taggart only found out his son was missing when he failed to appear on a scheduled flight home to Scotland on 29 November.

Local police and the British embassy in Hanoi have been informed. Searches of the area have been carried out.
