At Independence Square in Kyiv people have been reacting to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s speech. “Crimea has always been and remains an inseparable part of Russia,” he said.
The views in Kyiv were in stark contrast.
“Crimea should stay in Ukraine. Because Crimean land isn’t Russian land, it belongs to Tatars. It’s difficult to communicate with Putin. He’s that kind of person who acts the way he wants.”
“Can’t you see? He, Putin is like a tank forcing his way! He doesn’t give a damn, he doesn’t care about public opinion, what people think. I don’t know – only sanctions and military moves will help!”
“I don’t think Russians consider us to be their brothers, they are acting like invaders.”
