Three people were killed and 11 injured in three bomb attacks targeted at a Pakistani paramilitary force's post in Karachi on Wednesday.

In the first blast, a hand grenade was hurled at a Pakistan Rangers' post located near a board office in the Nazimabad area. Just minutes later, the second bomb was targeted at a police van that had arrived at the scene. Six people, including two Rangers, were injured in the blasts. One of the Rangers was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A third explosion took place when a suicide bomber attempted to enter the Rangers' post. He blew himself when he was detained by two officers. The explosion killed two people, including an officer, and injured six others.

The area has been cordoned off for investigations.

Police and Rangers have been targeted by terrorist attacks since the Pakistani government empowered the Rangers to launch a crackdown against criminals in the Karachi in September last year. Political and ethnic violence has killed more than 2,000 people in 2013.
