The Rolling Stones have cancelled their concert in Perth in Australia after the death of Mick Jagger’s girlfriend, fashion designer L’Wren Scott.

The 49 year old was found dead in a New York apartment yesterday in what was believed to be suicide although the cause of death has not been officially established.

Police said her assistant had found her hanging in the apartment. There was no note found and no sign of foul play.

A spokesperson for Mick Jagger said the singer was “completely shocked and devastated by the news.”

Australian fans of the Stones said they felt for frontman Jagger.

“Obviously, I mean, it’s easy for us on the outside to look in and go, ‘What a shame, that the concert might not go ahead tomorrow,’ but then again, on a personal level, Mick Jagger has got something that’s very personal and, yeah, he’s so far away from home that you’d actually want to get back, wouldn’t you?,” one fan said.

It’s not clear yet whether the band will continue with the rest of their six concert tour of Australia and New Zealand.
