The 98 events in 15 winter sport disciplines will be held in two areas, with the indoor sports being held at the Olympic Park near the Black Sea and the snow events being held at the resort town of Krasnaya Polyana.

The centerpiece of the six-venue Olympic Park is the Fischt Olympic Stadium, a 40,000-seater stadium that will host the opening, closing and medal ceremonies.

Other venues in the park include the 7,000 seat Shayba Arena which will host the ice-hockey; the 12,000 Iceberg for skating events; the 8,000 seat Adler Arena for speed skating; the 3,000 seat Icecube that will host the curling and the 12,000 Bolshoy dome for ice hockey.

At Krasnaya Polyana there are five more venues: The RusSki Gorki ski-jumping centre; the 5,000 seat Sanki centre for bobsled, skeleton and luge; the Laura cross country and biathlon centre; the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park and the Rosa Khutor Alpine Centre.
