Malaysian Buddhists pray for missing flight

Solemn mourning continues as Malaysian Buddhists gather in Kuala Lumpur to pray for the missing passengers of flight MH370.

The service overflows into the streets as monks and civilians bring candles, flowers and song.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) PRESIDENT OF THE SUBANG JAYA BUDDHIST ASSOCIATION, S.C. CHIM, SAYING;

"Even though there is a very thin ray of hope, we are still hope to the safety and well being (of the passengers)."

The flight disappeared one week ago while heading for Beijing.

Investigators now believe someone on board deliberately shut off its communications and tracking systems before taking the plane off course.

In shopping malls, locals and tourists leave messages of hope and prayer.

Many are perplexed at how the plane could disappear without a trace.
