Just before Valentine’s Day, a Detroit-based florist was ordered by the FAA to stop its drone delivery testing. According to a federal judge, they have every right to proceed.
Just before Valentine’s Day, a Detroit-based florist was ordered by the FAA to stop its drone delivery testing.
Since then, another drone-related case that was brought before a federal judge resulted in a determination that gives them to green light to resume their trials.
Commercial drones in general have been under review by the FAA for quite some time, and while the deliberations go on, they’ve halted many activities related their use.
One judge feels that in some areas they’ve overstepped their legal bounds.
In regards to the reasoning the organization is using to stop flights, the judge argued that a person could be called out for, “a flight in the air of a paper airplane or a toy balsa wood glider…”
His ruling applies only to drones flying 400 feet and lower, but it has, at least for now, made all commercial ones doing so completely legal.
Thus, Wesley Berry Flowers in Detroit is getting ready to resume its trials.
