Pope's first anniversary marked across world

It's been one year since Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina was elected pope in a surprise election.....

Since then Pope Francis has won the admiration of Catholics and non-Catholics alike across the world.

Tributes to the first Jesuit pontiff have flooded in here to the Vatican.

Worshippers respect him for doing away with the usual elaborate trappings of his position and instead instilling more simplicity in St. Peter's.

But the changes he has introduced since the shock resignation of Pope Benedict XVI last February are about more than just style.

He's also known for his knack of supplying memorable off the cuff comments.

Masses were held in Brazil and Mexico to commemorate his one year anniversary.
