ONLINE PRAYERS FOR MISSING MALAYSIAN AIRLINES FLIGHT
Web users the world over have been sharing their thoughts and prayers for families of passengers aboard Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 through the hashtag #PrayForMH370. The plane was travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on Saturday when communication was lost shortly after takeoff.
Emotions are running high on Chinese social networks; the Boeing 777 was carrying 227 passengers, the majority Chinese nationals. This message was widely relayed on microblogging platform Sina Weibo, with people hoping the plane would reappear on the radars and reach its final destination.
Web users describing themselves as friends and family of passengers and crew have been sharing their distress. Gorgxous_ for example has posted a message saying she hopes her father, who she says is a flight attendant and onboard the missing aircraft, comes home safe and sound.
And an American man using the online pseudonym Kaiden IV has described on Twitter how he and his companion had a lucky escape, as they missed their flight to Beijing. He goes onto reassure his friends who thought he was on aboard and extend his sympathy toward families of the missing passengers.
CAMPAIGN AGAINST SEXUAL ASSAULT ON US CAMPUSES
