A blind man recently became the victim of a robbery. The 52-year-old man spoke to reporters and asked to go by only his first name, Mitchell.
He had been attempting to withdraw rent money from an ATM located in downtown Seattle when he was targeted by the robber. Mitchell was completely caught off guard.
He lost his vision from diabetes complications and at the time of the crime, his face was very close to the ATM buttons. The suspect approached him from behind and said ‘Give me your money. Don’t move, don’t say a word. I have a weapon, I’ll kill you'.
Mitchell complied with the demands and handed over $380. Mitchell claimed the suspect handed him a cigarette and took off with his money.
As soon as he left, Mitchell ran for help. A witness helped him flag down a cop. The robber’s face was captured by the ATM camera. It was released to media outlets for distribution, and fortunately the suspect was soon located.
A few days after the robbery, the crook who has been identified as 45-year-old Michael Castro, was arrested. He reportedly has convictions in New York for drug and assault charges.
