Most people would agree that the future predicting abilities of fortune cookies aren’t that precise. However, a recent story may shatter that belief.
A Bronx woman won the lottery by playing numbers which were obtained from a fortune cookie. 75-year-old Emma Duvoll won 2 million dollars from a February first drawing.
"It all started here at Sammy's Noodle Shop. Her son picked up dinner. When you get the fortune cookie, do you always open it? Not always, no. This time she did. The fortune led to a fortune."
Duvoll choose to accept the windfall in the form of a lump sum, which officially makes her $1.2 million richer thanks to the printed numbers on the fortune cookie.
Duvoll said ‘I was surprised, but pleased. I took some time contemplating what I will do with the money. I plan to invest most of it and maybe take a trip to Switzerland to visit family.’
Duvoll, a great-grandmother of one child and grandmother to eight kids, played her numbers at a Hannaford’s grocery store.
