Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever (Live)

2007-03-11 37

Cat Scratch Fever is an album by Ted Nugent released in 1977, as well as the name of the album's title song.

The name alludes to a disease referred to as CSD or cat scratch fever, so called because it is typically transmitted from cats to humans by cat scratches.

Questioned recently, Ted Nugent states that he never had this disease, but hears regularly from the occasional fan who has contracted it. However, it can be argued that CSD is not really the basis of the title song, but a way to cleverly disguise another message.

There are some obvious double entendres in the song alluding to sex and women, if the lyrics are interpreted as slang.

The title song has been repeatedly covered, among others by Motörhead (on the March ör Die album) and by Pantera
