a new study that examined the effect of oral health on the performance of 2012 Olympic athletes may bring dental health concerns back to the forefront.
Professor Ian Needleman of the University College London Eastman Dental Institute led the study that was published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Professor Needleman and his team recruited 302 athletes participating in the 2012 London Olympics. Participants underwent an oral health evaluation and a personal assessment detailing the impact that dental health had on their training, their performance and their quality of life.
