Arte & Oficio "Faces"1979 Portugal Prog Jazz Rock

In the late 70s and early 80s ARTE & OFÍCIO produced some of Portugal's finest rock music. Created by the joint forces of two former Psico (a progressive psych rock band) members, bassist Sergio Castro and singer António Garcez, and by the skills of drummer Álvaro Azevedo and guitarists Serginho and Fernando Nascimento, they produced two memorable rock/progressive/jazzrock albums, "Faces" (1979) and "Danza" (1981), as well as a collection of several hit singles (being probably "Marijuana", a live favourite, the major one). Both albums had notable collaborations, as nowadays renowed musicians such as António Pinho Vargas or André Sarbib joined the band.
ARTE & OFÍCIO were also able to gather a very faithful fanbase. Their pure rock strength, compositional talent and sheer musicianship made them unforgettable to most of their contemporaries, and it came naturally when they were called to play abroad as supporting act to Joe Jackson's south european 1980 tour. But as life went on and the 80s advanced, the band eventually split, opening the way to the ongoing António Garcez' ROXIGÉNIO and to Sergio Castro's TRABALHADORES DO COMÉRCIO.
This never meant true separated paths, though, as Garcez kept his liaisons with Castro. So, it also comes naturally, that more than three decades after these adventures, both of them are getting back to ARTE & OFÍCIO's timeless music... in the only possible place for that to happen, of course..
