Blondie, Beatle and Blur frontman honoured at NME

A week after the Brits comes the NMEs, UK music awards with attitude - as you can probably tell from the statuettes.

The rock awards from the New Musical Express - Britain's rock bible for some 60 years - saw music royalty old and new turn out.

Leading the way were Blondie, being recognised for their "Godlike Genius".

Paul McCartney and Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn were also honoured.

The former Beatle was given the Songwriters' Songwriter award, accepting it with typical eloquence.
