A motorist in Knoxville, Tennessee, crashed right through the walls of a gym and landed in The National Fitness Center’s pool. The accident occurred at a little before 6:30 in the evening.
Two employees were nearby at the time of the crash and helped the female driver out of the truck and pool. The 48-year-old motorist was not hurt but she was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center as a precaution.
No one else was injured. The Knox County Sheriff's Office claimed the woman, later identified as Melissa Rich smelled of alcohol after the wreck. It was also noted she had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.
She admitted to drinking 5 shots of hard liquor and two beers prior to getting behind the wheel. An empty whiskey bottle was later discovered in the truck.
After she was released from the hospital, Rich was turned over to police. She was charged with DUI.
The fitness club had to be closed after the crash for necessary repairs, as there were significant damages to the structure.
