Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair offered to work as an unofficial adviser to media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

The revelation came to light in the ongoing phone hacking trial of former newspaper editor Rebekah Brooks.

Brooks and six others are facing charges stemming from revelations that employees of the now defunct News of the World newspaper eavesdropped on the voicemails of celebrities, politicians, sports figures and royalty.

The court case is linked to the scandal which revealed a web of ties between politicians, senior police and media executives.
