Arizona inmate Joseph Dekenipp crawls through jail razor wire to meet Valentine, arrested

2014-02-19 11

Joseph Andrew Dekenipp is a man who takes Valentine's Day very seriously.

Dekenipp had been sitting in an Arizona jail since January 10th on suspicion of being behind a host of crimes, including vehicle theft, trafficking in stolen property, unlawful flight, and driving on a suspended license.

But when February 14th rolled around, Dekenipp was not going to let being behind bars keep him from his beloved.

Cops say he climbed over two walls and through a ring of razor wire in his romantic escape.

This amourous inmate may have impressed his girlfriend with his commitment to their love, but it was quite an effort for just a few hours of freedom as Arizona cops were waiting for him when he showed up to meet his Valentine.

Jail officials say this naughty lovebird was treated for serious cuts he sustained while crawling through razor wire, something 10 out of 10 safety experts do not recommend.

Mr. Dekenipp might make the record books for the world's 'most devoted inmate,' but sadly for him and his sweetheart, the two will probably not spend the next few Valentine Days together as he's now had an jail escape charge tacked on to his rap sheet.

A spokesperson for Arizona's Pinal County Sheriff's Office, Tim Gaffney, told reporters that jailers only realized Dekenipp was missing after inmates returned to their cells from a recreation area. The jail's recreation area is surrounded by a two solid walls as well as chain-link razor wire fencing, but somehow the escapee managed to surmount these challenges.

Ah, the power of love.
