EuroNews spoke to an opposition member of Ukraine’s parliament who has witnessed Tuesday’s bloodshed first hand.

Oleh Medunytsya represents the Fatherland Party, led by the country’s jailed former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko,

“In the House of Officers cultural centre, I saw a few dozen wounded people,” he told us. “Two were dead. Later I saw a third.”

“I didn’t examine the bodies but I saw blood on them. I don’t know whether real bullets were used but there were a lot of stun grenades around.

“Many protesters barricaded themselves in a nearby building and some ‘criminal elements’ tried to get them out. We called the police to save our people from a lynching.”
