ENCORE - Talking trumpets, music and magic with Ibrahim Maalouf

2014-02-17 1

He's known for melding Arabic sounds with jazz. Today we're joined on set by Lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf to talk about winning best world music album at France's version of the Grammys, the Victoires de la Musique. He also tells us how his musical family and Middle East background influences his work and explains what a quarter tone trumpet is.

Also on the show: we round up the other big winners at the Victoires de la Musique, including Phoenix, Vanessa Paradis and Stromae but ask why Daft Punk were conspicuously absent?
Plus find out how the film Gravity's use of the sound of silence won it several awards at the BAFTAS.
