River Thames flooding: before and after aerials

2014-02-14 53

Before and after images of the flooding in the Thames Valley show the extent of the deluge which has left some areas unrecognisable.

Aerial footage shows the extent of flooding along the Thames, with parts of Surrey, such as Walton-on-Thames, suffering from rising water levels.

The Telegraph used Google Earth to show the contrast of the flooded areas with how they usually look.

Footage of Walton Bridge near Walton-on-Thames, for example, shows the nearby marina underwater but pictures from Google Earth show that this area is usually dry.

The Thames is predicted to rise to its highest level in more than 60 years in some places, while the Met Office has issued a "red" weather warning for exceptionally strong winds in western parts of Wales and north-western parts of England.
