Making friends is not always an easy feat for kids. A mother in Michigan decided to help her son feel a little less lonely and a lot more loved by utilizing Facebook.

It's nice to get birthday love , is it not? And it's nice to get it in part, thanks to social media. But this might be the very best story of all.

It all started when the mom, named Jennifer realized just how alienated her disabled son, Colin was from his peers. Colin’s teacher told him that parents of students in his class were trying to transfer their kids to another teacher.

The concerned moms and dads wanted to move their children because they were uncomfortable around Colin.

As if that wasn't heartbreaking enough for Jennifer to hear, she learned he didn’t want a birthday party to celebrate his 11th year. In Colin’s own words, he didn’t have any friends to invite.

That was right abut the time Jenifer decided to turn to Facebook for help. In her first post Jennifer noted “ He eats lunch alone in the office everyday because no one will let him sit with them… So I thought, if I could create a page where people could send him positive thoughts and encouraging words, that would be better than any birthday party.”

The page has now earned over 963 thousand likes. Jennifer hopes to show him the loving and supporting messages on his birthday as a surprise.
