Euro election countdown begins

With 100 days to go until the European elections, the countdown in the race for votes has begun in earnest.

Political parties of all persuasions will start hitting the campaign trail in recent weeks to win the public’s support.

But the European Parliament will have a huge challenge to surmount: turnout has dropped in every election since it began life as a directly-elected body in 1979.

Another question for MEPs is how will they win votes in the face of an increasingly popular Eurosceptic movement. Which camp is more in touch with public opinion?
